Hall Facilities & Hire


Our main hall is maintained to a high standard and has recently undergone a 5-year programme of major refurbishment – including double glazing, cavity wall and ceiling insulation, LED lighting and the installation of a Wi-Fi fire alarm system.

The main hall has an Inverter sourced air conditioning heating system fitted in the ceiling with a touch screen control.

Main Hall

Our main hall has a pine floor that was fully resurfaced and resealed in July 2020. It is 15.5m long x 7.6m wide, and has newly painted badminton lines.

The hall can accommodate 120 people standing and 90 for a seated stage performance.

Our hall has:

  • A fully demountable Q stage, microphone system, amplifier and speakers
  • Hireable Roland EP880 electronic keyboard
  • Full-size badminton court with rackets, shuttlecocks and net
  • Two portable table tennis tables with bats and balls
  • Indoor sectional 9-pin bowls court

Perfect for activities such as:

  • Music or drama performances
  • Space for arts and craft exhibitions and conferences
  • Wedding receptions
  • Parties, discos or family gatherings that need a large space

Kitchen

We have a semi-professional kitchen with integrated units. It was installed in April 2018.

There are 84 place settings of white porcelain crockery also available for hirers.

Entrance

Our front porch, ramp and car park were refurbished in 2013.

Infra-red activated lighting gives users’ easy access to the building out of daylight hours.

Snow

High-speed Fibre

High-speed fibre broadband and Wi-Fi is available at no extra charge for all hirers.

Car Parking

There is tarmaced parking at the front of the hall for up to 12 cars. A second car park can be found at the entrance to the green with overflow for another 50 vehicles.

Insurance

The hall has a comprehensive insurance policy to cover most events held.

However, the use of bouncy castles or other active events except badminton and table tennis will require further insurance cover by the hirer.


Disabled Access and Facilities

The hall has full access and facilities for disabled visitors. Two wheelchairs are available for users.


Conference / Meeting Room

A 4m x 3.6m meeting room can hold up to 10 people is available for small events. The room is fully carpeted and opens both onto the main hall and entrance foyer.

It is very useful as a control point for organised functions and for holding coats and bags when larger events are occurring in the main hall.

Village Hall Kitchen

The village hall kitchen is was totally replaced in April 2018 to a semi-professional standard.

The kitchen is fully fitted with integrated cupboard units and commercial grade equipment throughout to comply with current health and hygiene regulations.

The kitchen has a Servis 90cm double oven with 5 ceramic hobs; an automatic dishwasher and Panasonic combi-microwave oven are complimented by a 60cm Hotpoint tall fridge to ensure that sufficient cold space is available for larger functions.

A plumbed-in water boiler and coffee machine ensure that hot drinks can be served effortlessly for all functions.

Stainless steel food preparation areas are fitted either side of the oven with colour coded chopping boards. Additional fridge and freezer units are located in the storeroom.

The kitchen can support a wide range of catering from teas, coffees to complex meals for major functions.

There is also cutlery and crockery to serve 100 guests available in the kitchen. The kitchen serving hatch opens directly onto the main hall.

Sport Facilities

The following sports facilities and equipment is available for hirers as part of the overall Hall hire charge.

Badminton
A full size Badminton Court with rackets and shuttlecocks.

Table Tennis
Two professional portable table tennis tables with bats and balls.

9-Pin Bowling
An Indoor sectional 9-pin bowls court.

This sports equipment is available to all hirers charge but must be pre-booked with the Booking Secretary prior to use.


Hire Cost Includes

The cost of the hire includes tables and chairs. Smart electronic candles for a more subtle “at table” effect are also available. Many of the official East Dartmoor walks and road routes converge on Manaton and therefore, the hall is an ideal control point for walking or cycling groups.

We can also provide:

  • Two portable table tennis tables with bats and balls.
  • A Roland EP880 electronic keyboard is also available for hire.
