Serving the community of Manaton in Dartmoor National Park
Est. 1930
The heart of Dartmoor National Park
5 miles from Bovey Tracey, Manaton has exceptional views of the surrounding countryside including Haytor, Hound Tor, Bowerman’s Nose with the high moors to the north.
The Parish Hall sits at the historic centre of the village, next to the village green and opposite the 14th-century St Winifred’s church. Many of the official South East Dartmoor walks converge on Manaton and therefore, the hall is an ideal control point for organised walking or cycling groups.
The original Parish Hall was built in 1930 on land leased from the Church. On expiry of the lease in 1951 the land was acquired for £25. In 1966 the hall was destroyed by a fallen tree and replaced with the current building.
The hall was first registered as a charity in 1953 (and is registered with the Charity Commission 30089). All income is invested to maintain the hall and its facilities.
